FOR PROFESSIONALS
Assessment tools and training
Instruments, manuals and training for clinicians, coaches and studios working with performing artists. Built in practice rather than in theory, documented so that two people assessing the same performer arrive at the same result.
In development
Assessment instruments
Scored assessment batteries for performing artists, each with an administrator manual, consent materials and interpretation guidance. Licensed to individual practitioners, studios and clinics.
Training
How to administer, score and interpret the assessments, so that results are consistent between administrators and comparable between retests.
Custom work
Assessment design for organizations with a population or a question that existing instruments do not answer.
How these are built
Documented selection. Every test is chosen for a stated reason, and the reason is written down. Where a threshold comes from published work, it is cited. Where it is a working convention, it says so.
Reproducible scoring. Criteria describe what is observed rather than how it looks, so two assessors reach the same score.
Honest about limits. These describe movement capacity and control. They do not diagnose, they do not predict injury, and they say as much on the page rather than in the small print.
Built for the room. Timed, sequenced and laid out for someone working through them with a performer in front of them.
Who these are for
Physical therapists and athletic trainers working with performing artists. Strength and conditioning coaches in dance, gymnastics and circus. Studios and companies who want consistent assessment across their roster. Educators teaching assessment in performing arts medicine.
Each instrument states what its administrator needs to be qualified to do. Some items require a licensed clinician; others do not, and the manual says which is which.
